True Crime: Hong Kong Awakens As Sleeping Dogs

At E3 2010, we saw a nearly complete version of True Crime: Hong Kong. At the time, it was in the hands of Activision, who canned the project back in February around the same time the Call of Duty publishing powerhouse announced the end of Guitar Hero and its spin-offs.

The game took a short cat nap, until Square Enix acquired the rights to produce the game. But Activision owns the True Crime IP, and a new title, Sleeping Dogs, has been announced along with release window.

Square Enix and United Front Games revealed the name change this morning, and aim to release Sleeping Dogs around the second half of 2012. Sleeping Dogs is now being developed in conjunction with Square Enix London Studios, who had a hand in Just Cause 2 and Batman: Arkham Asylum
