Gabe and Valve have all those basis covered as they announce today that Steam now plays host to 40 million accounts and 1,800 games with 2011 year-over-year sales doubling last years digits. During the ever-popular Steam holiday sales, 5 million simultaneous users were logged on at the same time.

In addition to all the astounding data above, Valve gave further reason to drop your jaw. In 2011 ALONE, Valve served up 780 PETABYTES of data to consumers. That's double 2010.
2012 and the future seem to be geared for even bigger Steam figures as the company is preparing to launch "Big Picture Mode" which will see Steam support for even more screens in your home. [Insert Valve-time joke here]
