Nintendo Announces Q1 2012 Releases

Nintendo decided to start us off this morning with a bang in the form of its Q1 lineup for 2012. It's a rather large list, but not many are noteworthy. That said, the ones that are noteworthy are pretty big.

How big? How about an official release date for Kid Icarus: Uprising? Two E3 expos later, we finally have word that Kid Icarus will release on March 23, 2012. Not as early as many frothing fans have hoped, but at this point, I think it's safe to say we're all just happy that it is 2012 and not 2013. In addition, Metal Gear Solid 3D Snake Eater has been confirmed to release in Q1…just with no pinned-down date.

For other 3DS news, Nintendo confirmed the GameStop-exclusive, the Circle Pad Pro, to release in the first quarter. The 3DS eShop will also obtain Kirby's Block Ball, NightSky, Mighty Switch Force, Zen Pinball, and Mutant Mudds.

The only notables for the Wii are PokePark 2: Wonders Beyond releasing on February 27th, Rhythm Heaven Fever on February 13th, and Mario Party 9 launching on March 11th. The DS–regular old DS–doesn't have much to offer, but many fans will be pleased to see that Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Survivor 2 will release in February.

Looks like we'll have another crazy Q1 on our hands from all three major console developers. Hope you weren't planning on spending your Christmas money on anything else.
