Ubisoft sent over new concept art and logos for Rainbow 6 Patriots today. Attached to the package was a release filled with "key features" for the upcoming shooter from the French publisher and its development studios in Montreal and Toronto as well as Red Storm. Take a look at the concept images while we run down these details.
"Unprecedented Narrative" – Apparently the game's campaign is inspired by real events and characters spun up in a "what-if scenario. This will most likely deal heavy handedly in issues surround the president, America, Russia, a possible war, maybe a few nukes, and WMDs hidden in homeland territory. That's just my guess… this is a Tom Clancy game after all.
"A New Threat for a New Team" "Enhanced Squad Management" – I don't need to be sold too much on the story. I generally like the Tom Clancy campaigns across each of Ubisoft's franchises, but I'm a little concerned with the Squad Management detailed here. "At the press of one button, the Rainbow squad will perform the most efficient and deadly tactic given the context of the situation." That sounds too close to a "win" button. I'd certainly like to see Rainbow 6 Patriots continue the heritage of difficulty you might remember from the earlier games.
"Evolved Combat" "Surprise and Overpower Enemies" – Said combat reportedly involved breaching mechanics and players will use "Scan" mode to add a little strategy to the first-person shooting. Please, please, please let this make up for the lack of planning out missions before actually engaging with enemies.
"Intense Multiplayer Experience" – Did you not see this coming?
Rainbow 6 Patriots is planned for 2013 release on Xbox 360, PS3, and PC. Look for a ton information at next year's E3.
