Dishonored 2 Co-Creative Director Buys Game On PC To Investigate Performance Issues

If you're wondering whether Dishonored 2 has resolved its ongoing PC performance issues, look no further than it's falling Steam rating. Upon release, Dishonored 2 had only 62 percent positive reviews, and that figure has dropped to 57 percent.

Co-Creative Director Harvey Smith had previously announced that they are looking into the performance issues on PC, but now he's taking it one step further – by actually playing the game on PC.

In a truly Trading Places move, this Tweet was coupled with a giveaway of a copy of the Collector's edition (someone has already won, unfortunately). Experiencing the game through our eyes, in our shoes, if you will. Hopefully, this will help the team at Arkane Studios pinpoint exactly what is going wrong and embolden them to fix it.

The idea of Smith playing the game on a three-year-old computer is also encouraging. It shouldn't be that, every time a AAA game releases, PC players are required to spend hundreds upgrading their computer to the latest hardware in order to keep up. It seems Smith feels these parts should have a longer shelf life.

For the record, our review was done on PC, and I experienced only mild and sporadic framerate drops without any major bugs – despite not meeting the recommended requirements – just by keeping the game on medium settings and disabling things like Anti-Aliasing.
