Microsoft Details November Update for Xbox One

It looks to be a big Fall for Microsoft with the releases of Halo 5: Guardians and Rise of the Tomb Raider on Xbox One, but the system itself also stands out as a selling point for the holiday season. In fact, it's getting a big update this November.

Microsoft detailed the Fall update on its site this morning. The most noteworthy feature in "The New Xbox One Experience" is backwards compatibility, which was first announced at E3 this year. Over 100 Xbox 360 games will be available at launch, and more will be added in the following months.

All of the typical Xbox One features will be compatible with Xbox 360 games. That means players can take screenshots, stream, or use the game DVR functions while playing older games on the system. The post states "you can even play multiplayer with friends still using their Xbox 360."

Other features in the November update include a new Guide, redesigned Home and Store sections, and a brand new Community section. The latter allows players to keep track of friends in the new Activity Feed, and it also has a Trending section for posts from other Xbox LIVE players.

Members of the Preview Program for Xbox One can opt in to the update starting now, and Microsoft will roll out the update for those who sign up in the coming weeks. Microsoft will use feedback from preview members to gear up for the full launch in November.
