Sony Taking a Step Toward Virtual Reality

Sony is known for bringing fresh new products to the market. They created the Walkman, the PlayStation, and were among the first to bring 3DTVs to the market. Now, you can add another notch to their notch-filled belt of firsts. Sony showed off what was then dubbed as a prototype 3D headset at Consumer Electronic Show back in January, but are now bringing the futuristic looking doohickey to retail.

What you see above is the HMZ-T1, a stereoscopic 3D headset featuring two 0.7-inch OLED screensone for each eyeand built-in 5.1 surround sound headphones. It also features an HDMI in and out port, so you can connect them to a HDTV. Not sure why you'd want to do that if you had these, though.

These bad boys are the closest thing to virtual reality at home. They'll release this November in Japan for around 60,000 yen (roughly $800). You may or may not need blown out blue hair to wear it.
