The Witcher 3 Now Has a New Game Plus Mode

So you put 100+ hours into The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt and beat the game. You feel aimless and don't know what to play next. How about more of The Witcher 3 with the game's new game plus mode?

New game plus was introduced in a free update earlier today on Xbox One and PC. It will also be added to PSN at some point when the store updates. It's the 16th and final batch of free content for The Witcher 3 as part of developer CD Projekt RED's free DLC program.

Quite a few items carry over in NG+. They include inventory equipment, crafted alchemy items, crafting components, recipes, and money. Some of the more noteworthy materials that must be found again are weapon/armor formulas, gwent cards, monster trophies, consumables, and letters.

NG+ isn't a cakewalk just because you carry over important items. Enemies scale with Geralt, so they pose a significant challenge right out of the gate. The Witcher 3's NG+ mode is clearly for players who want a little extra difficulty from the game.

The only problem with NG+ in The Witcher 3 is that it loses the magic of investigating the whereabouts of Ciri and talking with the many colorful personalities in the game. That's my favorite part about The Witcher 3, and I imagine it's not quite the same a second time. NG+ caters more towards fans of the game's combat.

I still have yet to beat The Witcher 3 though, so it's not like I have to worry about NG+ any time soon. Nevertheless, it's great to see such a meaningful free update from CD Projekt RED.
