SGDQ Raises $1.2M for Charity

Summer Games Done Quick (SGDQ) concluded over the weekend, and it proved to be another huge success. In fact, the event raised over $1.2 million for the reputable charity organization Doctors Without Borders.

The exact total was $1,233,135, with 28,490 separate donations. That eclipses the previous SGDQ record of $718,245, set just last year. Also, this year's SGDQ total nearly reached the $1.5 million raised by AGDQ in January, a particularly impressive feat since AGDQ is the more popular speedrunning event.

I didn't get to watch as much of this year's SGDQ as I would have liked, but there were still plenty of great highlights. The previously mentioned Tetris block is worth checking out, and my jaw was on the floor Saturday morning as I watched two players speedrun Dark Souls II with one controller.

I also hear the Super Mario World 2, Maui Mallard in Cold Shadow (WR), and Roundabout speedruns are worth checking out. All of them can be found in this handy Reddit thread or on the Games Done Quick YouTube channel.

If you watched SGDQ this year, feel free to share your favorite speedruns and moments below.
