Metal Gear Online Delayed

It's hard to believe, but we're less than a month away from the release of Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain. Hideo Kojima's swan song features trademark stealth, a huge open world, and an online component. Unfortunately, fans will have to wait a bit longer for the multiplayer portion of the game.

Konami announced this morning that Metal Gear Online, the multiplayer mode in MGSV, will be delayed until October 6 on consoles, a full month after the game's release. PC players will have to wait even longer, as Metal Gear Online doesn't come out on that platform until January 2016.

There is a bit of a silver lining for PC players though. Konami also noted that the PC version will launch right alongside the console versions of the game. Originally, the PC port was supposed to come out a couple of weeks after the initial release on Microsoft and Sony platforms.

This isn't the first time a multiplayer component in a game has been delayed. Grand Theft Auto V is another recent example, as its online mode launched a couple of weeks after the official release. Hopefully the extra time allows Kojima Productions to produce a smooth online launch in October.

Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain comes out on PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360, Xbox One, and PC on September 1.
