GameStop Giving $50 Gift Cards in Light of Deus Ex Fiasco [UPDATE]

[UPDATE] I have confirmation from an anonymous source at GameStop that this is absolutely true. Just bring your receipt and you will get your $50 gift card and Buy 2 Get 1 Free coupon.

Redditor Heartless000 reports that GameStop is trying to mend the Deus Ex fiasco where they took out free OnLive codes from copies of Deus Ex: Human Revolution:

I just got a phone call from Gamestop and it was the manager, they just got off a conference call and everyone who purchased Deus Ex: Human Revolution for PC is getting a $50 gift card and a "Buy 2 get 1 free" coupon as well.

If you don't believe me call Gamestop and ask, just realize they might not have had the same conference call at the same time. If you can verify I'm telling the truth let me know. I'm heading there tonight to pick up my gift card and coupons.

Commenter troncat93 confirms this via an email:

Dear GameStop customer,

Earlier this week, GameStop removed a competitor's coupon from standard edition PC versions of Deus Ex: Human Revolution, a recent release by Square Enix. We were not aware that the product box would contain this competitor's offer. We regret the events surrounding this title release and that our customers were put in the middle of this issue between GameStop and Square Enix, the publisher of this game. And for this, we are truly sorry.

For your inconvenience, we would like to offer you a free $50 GameStop gift card and a Buy 2 Get 1 Free pre-owned purchase. We want to earn back your trust and confidence in the GameStop experience. Please bring in this email and your store receipt or order confirmation from GameStop.com and present it to a Game Advisor.

Sincerely,

Paul Raines CEO

GameStop

It looks like people who have a GameStop receipt of their PC purchase of Deus Ex: Human Revolution can present their receipt to get the $50 gift card. If this is true, I have to (surprisingly) commend GameStop for stepping in and correcting their mistake and Square Enix's misstep.
