Here’s Why Only Gears 1 Is Getting an Xbox One Remake

Gears of War Ultimate Edition is releasing later this year, providing Xbox One gamers with the opportunity to relive the Xbox 360 classic with prettier visuals and overall better performance. But why just the first game and not the later entries in the series, you ask?

During a panel at San Diego Comic-Con, the studio explained that while it would have been great to give the entire series an overhaul like 343 Industries did with Halo: The Master Chief Collection (minus the buggy launch, of course) there just simply isn't enough time our resources to make that happen.

"It's really hard work [to remaster an entire series]," one studio member said (via GameSpot). "It takes a long time. It took us in the end 16-18 months to do the first one, and to try and do three games… How many people would we need to have? It just wasn't logistically or physically or technically possible. For us it was really about what can we do, what can we focus on."

Will you be picking up the Gears of War remake for Xbox One when it releases on August 25?
