New Halo 5 Details Revealed

Halo 5: Guardians is the July cover story for Game Informer, which means fans get to learn more about Master Chief's next adventure. The single-player campaign and co-op in particular are the biggest points of interest.

The Blue Team joins Master Chief in the single-player campaign, though they can also be controlled by other players in four-player online co-op. Unfortunately the game does not include split-screen co-op, a first for the series since its debut in 2001.

Master Chief and the Blue Team aren't the only playable characters in Halo 5. The campaign also follows Spartan Jameson Locke from the Halo: Nightfall TV series as he tries to track down Master Chief and his team.

As Eurogamer reports, the Game Informer story also details the disastrous launch of Halo: The Master Chief Collection and how that will affect future Halo titles. 343 Industries studio head Bonnie Ross discussed the subject in an interview.

"In hindsight, it would probably have been better to ship the four games separately," she said. "And I think that fans would've loved that. We wanted to do more. We wanted it to be this gift to the fans."

All Halo games will have a beta going forward to ensure smooth launches, much like the Halo 5 multiplayer beta from earlier this year. Hopefully the full game launches without a hitch when it's released on October 27 for Xbox One.
