Nintendo Reveals New Animal Crossing Game

Nintendo made quite a few notable announcements during today's Nintendo Direct broadcast, including the the reveal of a new entry in the addictive Animal Crossing series.

Animal Crossing: Happy Home Designer will be released on the Nintendo 3DS later this year. True to its name, Happy Home Designer focuses on home decoration. More specifically, players fill requests from villagers by scanning amiibo cards.

Scanning cards also allows other villagers to visit the newly decorated home and interact with players in various ways. The request and villager pool can be expanded by purchasing more amiibo cards.

Animal Crossing: Happy Home Designer will be the first game to use amiibo cards. The New 3DS has built in support for amiibos, but Nintendo plans to release a peripheral for older models at the same time as Happy Home Designer.
