Canceled Legacy of Kain Footage Surfaces

It's been 12 years since the last Legacy of Kain release, but a new series entry was in the works until its cancelation a few years back. Now we have video evidence thanks to the rigorous research of NeoGAF user Mama Robotnik.

The 30+ minute video of Legacy of Kain: Dead Sun features a detailed look at exploration and gameplay. According to a source who worked on the game, it was in the pre-alpha state before its cancelation by publisher Square Enix.

Crystal Dynamics was the primary developer behind the Legacy of Kain series, but the company only worked in an advisory role for Dead Sun. Instead, development duties went to Climax Studios, the team responsible for Silent Hill: Origins and Silent Hill: Shattered Memories.

Another NeoGAF user, whatevermort, claims to have worked on the game. They expressed how they are "glad something has come out of it, even if that's just excitement from people who can see what we were going for."

Curious fans can take a closer look at Mama Robotnik's research in the NeoGAF thread to get a better idea of the game's story, lore, and mechanics.
