Nintendo Announces New 3DS XL for North America

The Big N has finally announced New Nintendo 3DS for those in North America. The device will be out on February 13 and will retail for $199.99.

Only the XL version will be available, as the standard smaller model that launched in Japan last year was not mentioned by Nintendo of America's Reggie Fils-Aime during this morning's Nintendo Direct. As such, it doesn't look like North American gamers will be able to customize their new handheld with faceplates.

The New 3DS XL will come in "New Red" and "New Black" color options. Oddly enough, the hardware doesn't come with an AC adapter, so you'll have to purchase one separately or use an old 3DS cable you have lying around.

As I'm sure you already know, the New 3DS XL features a C-Stick, improved performance, and better 3D. Oh, and NFC support will be included so you can make use of those amiibo on the go. For more on the added features to the New 3DS, check out our comprehensive rundown right here.

Do you plan on upgrading to the New 3DS XL or are you happy with your current model?
