No Likely Chance of F-Zero on the Wii U

Though the franchise still holds considerable popularity, noting its inclusion in Super Smash Bros. for Wii U and Nintendo 3DS and as a downloadable track on Mario Kart 8, the F-Zero franchise hasn't seen life since F-Zero Climax, released exclusively in Japan in 2004. But F-Zero fans rejoice, for Nintendo executive Shigeru Miyamoto, has finally discussed the probability of a new game! Too bad he said it probably won't happen on the Wii U.

Miyamoto, in an interview with Smosh Games, postulated that a whole new control scheme would be needed to warrant a new F-Zero game, so those who are anxiously awaiting it may have to hold tight until the next Mario Machine.

“If we create a new type of controller interface,” said Miyamoto in the interview, “and we find a controller interface that's particularly suited for F-Zero, then maybe we'll do something with it in the future.”

Star Fox fans fared a little better, as in the same interview Miyamoto said a playable version of the new Star Fox will be available at E3, meaning it's growing closer to release.
