Helldivers 2 Communications Relay Bug

Helldivers 2 Communications Relay Bug: Can’t Insert SSSD Hard Drive in Retrieve Valuable Data

Some Helldivers 2 players are experiencing a bug with inserting the SSSD hard drive into the communications relay in Retrieve Valuable Data missions. Sometimes, when you approach the relay to insert the SSSD the prompt never appears, leaving you unable to complete this mission objective. Additionally, some teams are getting confused about what they’re supposed to do in the mission, and they’re not picking up the SSSD to start with. We’ll address both of these issues below.

Is the communications relay bugged in Retrieve Valuable Data in Helldivers 2?

Helldivers 2 Retrieve Valuable Data SSSD Hard Drive Communications Relay

There are two separate issues that players are having with the communications relay in Helldivers 2:

  • The mission objectives aren’t clear.
  • The Retrieve Valuable Data mission is a bit buggy.

Here’s how to deal with both.

Where to find the SSSD in Retrieve Valuable Data missions

There’s a chance that the correct communications relay location won’t be highlighted orange on your map in Helldivers 2. Instead, the icon will be gray, which might make you think that you don’t need to visit it. When you start the mission, you’ll need to find the SSSD hard drive first, then transport it to the relay. This is also confusing because there is also a relay near where the SSSD spawns that you can’t interact with.

You’ll know you’re at the right communications relay because it’ll be a fair distance away from the hard drive spawn. However, you may find another issue even when you get to the correct one.

The communications relay or your character is bugged

Several bugs in Helldivers 2 might prevent you from inserting the SSSD into the communications relay. The most common one is that sometimes interaction prompts get bugged, and you can’t perform actions. If this is the case, you won’t be able to insert the hard drive. A more severe form of this is that you can sometimes get stuck in Strategem mode, leaving you unable to do anything but move around.

One solution for the above issues is having someone TK you. When you respawn, these issues should be gone, and you or another teammate can pick the SSSD back up and insert it into the relay.
