FF7 Rebirth Best Materia Combos Combinations Pairings Builds List

FF7 Rebirth Best Materia Combos: List of Materia Builds and Combinations

The FF7 Rebirth best materia combos are somewhat different than the ones in FF7 Remake. There’s a larger variety of materia in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth and some updates to older materia from the first game in the trilogy. As you might expect, many of most powerful combinations involve the blue support materia, but there are a few builds that include yellow and purple materia too that shouldn’t be overlooked, especially near the endgame when enemies and bosses are much more formidable. Here’s a list of the best materia combinations in FF7 Rebirth.

List of FF7 Rebirth best materia combos

Many of the best materia combos for FF7 Rebirth will require you to obtain a specific materia from Chadley in various regions. Luckily, it doesn’t take too long to earn the world intel points you need to develop them.

  • Comet + Synergy
    • Synergy is already one of the best support materia in the game since it allows an ally to cast a spell without having to expend any MP. This means that the ally can cast the wide-damaging spell Comet for free every time another character spends ATB. This is an incredible combination that deals a lot of damage and stun meter.
  • Time + Magnify
    • Magnify is effectively the “All” materia from the original FF7. The downside of it is that it lowers the potency of the links materia, so healing and damage spells aren’t as effective. All of your party member also need to be in the same area for it to work. But if you can get your party to come together, a basic Haste spell for everyone is a fantastic boost. Other solid options for Magnify is Resist from the Cleansing materia, Gravity spells, and Reraise. (Also don’t forget Red XIII’s Supernal Fervor that gives Haste to everyone no matter where they are on the board.)
  • Item Economizer + Item Master
    • Items are usually not worth the ATB compared to abilities and spells, so Item Economizer is a great way to use items for free on occasion. You can also carry the free item command into a later battle. Combining this with Item Economizer is great for any restorative items, especially Mist potions, so that you can get bonus HP and MP from them.
  • ATB Boost + First Strike
    • When First Strike is fully levelled, a character with it will get a one bar of ATB at the start of battle. ATB Boost can then be used immediately to double that for a full ATB meter. If you’re looking to grind out some EXP and AP, this is a fantastic opening combo that can end some fights in a flash.
  • Gravity + MP Absorption
    • Gravity does a huge amount of damage against regular enemies, particularly near the end of the game. You can take advantage of this by pairing it with MP Absorption to get some of the MP cost back. Magic Efficiency is a good substitute here if you don’t want to use MP Absorption, though you may want to link Magic Efficiency to other materia instead.
  • Level Boost + Revival
    • The Level Boost materia is a quick way to increase the level of a paired materia. Revival takes a lot of AP before you can learn the powerful spell Arise, so pairing it with Level Boost is a solid play. Combining Level Boost with the Fire and Ice materia or Lightning and Wind materia isn’t a bad option either.
  • ATB Assist + Skill Master
    • ATB Assist has you build an ally’s ATB gauge if your character uses the same commands. Skill Master gives you a large ATB boost if your character uses different commands. Combine these two together on a single character and your party will get some kind of ATB bonus no matter what commands you select. (The free Item command from Item Economizer helps even further here.)
  • Steadfast Block + Precision Defense Focus Materia
    • This combo is specifically for players who are good at blocking and parries. Precision Defense Focus widens the timing window for perfect defense, while Steadfast Block increases the protection from guarding and gives you an ATB boost when guarding too. Putting this combo on, say, Red XIII who builds Vengeance Mode meter for blocking is a very good strategy.
