Palworld Failed to Host Multiplayer Session Error Fix

In Palworld, the “failed to host multiplayer session” error is preventing some users from playing with their friends. The game was just released into early access today, so it’s not surprising that some issues are arising. However, given Palworld’s emphasis on multiplayer, this is one error that you’ll want to fix quickly.

Can you fix the “failed to host multiplayer session” error in Palworld?

Palworld failed to host multiplayer session error message

There’s no quick fix if you get the “failed to host multiplayer session” error in Palworld. Unlike most error messages, it at least gives you the advice to “please check your internet connection. Restarting the game or your PC may fix this issue.” However, the likely cause of this error is outside of your ability to fix it.

Unfortunately, the servers are overloaded, so you’ll encounter problems when accessing multiplayer. So, the only recommended fix from the devs is to wait. If you check the server status page, you can see that the servers are experiencing “degraded performance,” so don’t expect things to work perfectly until it says otherwise.

The official explanation for the failed to host multiplayer session error in Palworld is:

“The system capacity of the external vendor appears to be exceeded. We are currently investigating the details.”

This essentially means that the Palworld developers contracted an external vendor to host the game’s dedicated servers, and the vendor simply doesn’t have the resources to keep up with demand. It seems as though the devs didn’t foresee that game garnering over 400,000 players on Steam alone on its first day.

Unfortunately, since a third party runs the servers, it may take a few days for the Palworld devs to find another vendor and spin up more servers. So, expect multiplayer to be spotty into next week.

The good news is that solo mode runs locally, so if you find yourself frustrated by multiplayer errors, you can still play the game sans your buddies.
