How to Burn Corpses in Project Zomboid

Project Zomboid: How to Burn Corpses

Burning corpses in Project Zomboid can be an effective way to dispose of them. Neglecting to dispose of corpses properly can lead sickness, which if left uncheck will kill your character. While you can bury corpses to prevent the spread of illness, burning them is the most time and cost effective manner of disposal.

Method 1: Campfire

  1. Gather Materials:
    • You will need two logs or three planks to create campfire materials.
    • Items like books, dirty rags, magazines, newspapers, ripped sheets, sheets, or twigs can be combined with logs or planks.
  2. Create Campfire Materials:
    • Right-click on one of the mentioned items in your inventory and select “Make Campfire Kit.”
  3. Build a Campfire:
    • Right-click on the ground in a safe, non-flammable area and choose the “Build a Fire” option.
  4. Pile Corpses:
    • Drag the corpses to the campfire location and pile them around it.
  5. Add Fuel:
    • Right-click on the campfire and select “Add Fuel.”
    • Choose items like socks, ripped sheets, shoes, sheets, sheets of paper, twigs, sturdy sticks, books, magazines, newspapers, etc., as fuel. The burning duration varies for each item.
  6. Light the Campfire:
    • Right-click on the campfire again and select “Light Fire” using a lighter or matches.
    • Keep an eye on the fire as it consumes the corpses. It may take around 5 minutes for the bodies to burn completely.

Method 2: Jerry Can

  1. Equip Gas Can and Lighter/Matches:
    • Make sure you have a gas can and a lighter or matches in your inventory.
  2. Pile Corpses:
    • Similar to the campfire method, pile the corpses in a location you want to burn them.
  3. Burn Corpses:
    • Equip the gas can as your primary item and the lighter or matches as your secondary item.
    • Right-click on a corpse and select the “Burn Corpse” option.
    • Repeat for other corpses if needed.

Method 3: Molotov Cocktails

  1. Craft Molotov Cocktail:
    • Collect a bottle of any alcoholic drink (e.g., Bourbon).
    • Obtain a piece of ripped or stripped clothing (Dirty Rag).
    • Combine the alcoholic drink and the ripped/stripped clothing to craft a Molotov Cocktail.
  2. Equip Molotov Cocktail:
    • Move the Molotov Cocktail to your primary slot.
    • Ensure you have a lighter in your inventory.
  3. Aim and Throw Molotov:
    • Right-click the mouse button to aim at the zombies.
    • Left-click to throw the Molotov Cocktail.
  4. Maintain Distance:
    • The Molotov Cocktail will create a fire upon impact, burning zombies.
    • Keep a safe distance from the flames to avoid damage to your character.
    • Use Molotov Cocktails strategically to handle groups of zombies.
  5. Caution with Splash Damage:
    • Molotov Cocktails have splash damage, meaning the fire can spill onto nearby areas.
    • Be cautious when using Molotov Cocktails indoors, as the fire may spread uncontrollably and pose a risk to your safety.

After burning the bodies, you can use a shovel to clean up the ashes.

Remember to always place the campfire in a safe, non-flammable area to prevent the fire from spreading. Consider placing your bag away from the burning site to avoid potential damage to your inventory. If using Molotov Cocktails, be cautious of their splash damage, especially indoors. Remember, burning corpses is an effective but potentially dangerous method, so always be cautious to avoid unintended consequences.
