The Finals Open Beta: Login Failed 500 & 402 Server Error Codes Fix

The Finals open beta has begun, but users are facing annoying ‘Login Failed: 500’ and ‘Login Failed: 402’ error codes, causing many to seek out a fix. So how do you prevent these server errors and make your way into the PC FPS? Here’s what you need to know.

How to fix The Finals beta Login Failed 500 & 402 errors

To fix the Login Failed 500 and Login Failed 402 error codes, users report that verifying The Finals beta’s game files can help. To do this, follow these steps:

  1. Go to your Steam library
  2. Right-click ‘THE FINALS PLAYTEST’
  3. Select ‘Properties’ and ‘Installed FIles’
  4. Select ‘Verify integrity of beta files’

After verifying the game files, try restarting the game and see if it works. If it doesn’t work, then restarting Steam might do the trick — make sure you do so from Task Manager by entering Ctrl + Alt + Delete, then right-clicking Steam under ‘Processes’ and selecting ‘End task.’

Alternatively, the Login Failed 500 and 402 error codes are as a result of the game’s servers being at max capacity. This means that you won’t be able to play unless pressure on the servers eases off, which might take a while considering this has been a popular launch day for the game’s open beta.

Developer Embark Studios has already noted that it is working on increasing its server capacity, and the dev even had to introduce a temporary login queue to deal with the influx of players:

Until this server is resolved, if you’re repeatedly finding yourself coming up against the 500 and 402 error codes, there’s little else you can do other than wait for Embark to begin rolling out improvements to its servers in order to accommodate more players.

The Finals’ open beta will run until Sunday, November 5, and is currently available to play on PC, PlayStation, and Xbox. This follows the game’s closed playtest that ran until October 3, with all players now able to access it. However, with greater player numbers comes more server strain, and clearly these teething issues are affecting the beta. Hopefully, a solution will be rolled out sooner rather than later.
