Lies of P Lying System: Should I Lie or Tell the Truth?

The Lying System in Lies of P can be confusing. Usually, when a person lies, it’s a bad thing, but what about puppets? In this world, Pinocchio has the singular ability among puppets to choose between telling a lie and telling the truth. So, which one is best for you?

Should I lie or tell the truth in Lies of P?

In Lies of P, there are many chances to choose between lying and telling the truth. This is one of Pinocchio’s unique abilities, as puppets are typically unable to lie as one of their fundamental rules.

More Lies of P

Choosing whether to lie or tell the truth in Lies of P determines which ending you get:

  • If you lie more than you tell the truth and don’t give Geppetto the heart, you get the “Rise of P” ending.
  • If you tell the truth more than you lie and don’t give Geppetto the heart, you get the “Free From the Puppet String” ending.

There is also a third ending that doesn’t factor in the Lying System.

Generally, I found it best to completely tell the truth or completely lie in a playthrough. It establishes a consistent character for Pinnochio, and there are few penalties for choosing either route.

So, it really comes down to whether you want to play Pinnochio as a jerk or a pretty nice guy. In Krat, the truth is often unnecessarily harsh, and a lie can comfort those suffering there.

Lies of P Lying System FAQ

Q: How does the Lying System work in Lies of P?

A: In Lies of P, the Lying System allows Pinocchio, unlike other puppets, to choose between lying and telling the truth. Your choices determine which ending you receive in the game.

Q: How do my choices between lying and telling the truth affect the game’s ending?

A: Your choices lead to different outcomes. If you predominantly lie and don’t give Geppetto the heart, you’ll get the “Rise of P” ending. If you mostly tell the truth and refrain from giving Geppetto the heart, you’ll experience the “Free From the Puppet String” ending. There’s also a third ending that’s unrelated to the Lying System.

Q: Should I consistently lie or consistently tell the truth in my playthrough?

A: It’s often best to be consistent, either always lying or always telling the truth, as it builds a coherent character narrative for Pinnochio. The decision boils down to how you envision Pinnochio’s character in the world of Krat, where the truth can be harsh and lies can offer solace.
