Starfield Caelumite Use Mineral Resource Uses Mods Research

Starfield Caelumite Use: What Is This Mineral Resource Used For?

The Starfield Caelumite mineral is easily found around Artifacts throughout the game. But many players are wondering if this unique inorganic resource has a use of any kind, apart from its rather high monetary value. For 0.23 mass, it has a value of 264 credits, so it’s worth mining to sell for money. But given that that exotic and unique minerals tend to be requirements for high-end research for weapon, spacesuit, and outpost research, it’s fair to ask whether Caelumite falls into the same category. Here’s whether the resource Caelumite has a use in Starfield.

What is the use of Starfield Caelumite?

The mineral Caelumite is used for high-level research for various spacesuit and helmet mods.

Specifically, Caelumite is a necessary ingredient for adding the Gravitic Composites mod on a helmet and a spacesuit. This mod makes it more difficult for enemies to detect you while you’re hiding and sneaking, which is great for any builds that are made around stealth and sneak attacks.

For spacesuits, you will first need to have unlocked Spacesuit Mods 3 by putting ranks into Spacesuit Design. To apply Gravitic Composites in the fourth slot of a Spacesuit, you will need Caelumite x4, Adhesive x3, and Microsecond Regulator x1.

Similarly for helmets, you first need to have researched Helmet Mods 3 to apply the Gravitic Composites mod. For this upgrade, you will need Caelumite x3, Adhesive x1, and Microsecond Regulator x1.

It’s unclear just by how much the Gravitic Composites actually reduces the detection ability from enemies. But given that the stealth detection meter is rather finicky, it’s worth using this mod just to be safe.

That said, if you don’t necessarily care about sniping foes from a distance or using sneak attack in general, then Caelumite is not a necessary mineral to gather apart from selling it. If you do want to collect Caelumite, we recommend using the Elemental Pull power since mining it using the Cutter takes a while.

Starfield Caelumite FAQ

Q: Is there a functional use for Caelumite in Starfield, besides its monetary value?

A: Yes, Caelumite is utilized for high-level research, specifically for crafting certain spacesuit and helmet mods that benefit stealth and sneak attack builds.

Q: How can I use Caelumite for modifying my equipment?

A: Caelumite is a key ingredient for the Gravitic Composites mod, which can be added to both helmets and spacesuits. To add it to a spacesuit, after unlocking Spacesuit Mods 3, you’ll need Caelumite x4, Adhesive x3, and Microsecond Regulator x1. For helmet modification, having researched Helmet Mods 3 is a prerequisite, and the required materials include Caelumite x3, Adhesive x1, and Microsecond Regulator x1.

Q: If I’m not focused on stealth gameplay, do I need to collect Caelumite?

A: Not necessarily. If stealth or sneak attacks aren’t central to your gameplay, you might only want to collect Caelumite to sell it for credits. However, if you do decide to mine it, using the Elemental Pull power is recommended since using the Cutter can be time-consuming.
