Where can I find the Chest of the Mundane in Baldur's Gate 3?

The Chest of the Mundane is located in the Arcane Tower in the southwest of the Underdark, south of the Underdark Beach. Once inside the tower, go through the main entrance on the east wall, proceed to the balcony through the north doors, and your party should automatically perform an Arcane check revealing the chest.

How does the Chest of the Mundane work in BG3?

The Chest of the Mundane appears to contain ordinary objects. However, when items are removed from it, they become more valuable. Conversely, if you put your items into the chest, they turn into simple objects like forks or ladles. The true power of the chest is that it changes the weight of any item placed inside to just 0.5 lbs, allowing you to carry more items without becoming overencumbered.

Are there any drawbacks to using the Chest of the Mundane?

Yes, once you place items inside the Chest of the Mundane, you can't easily distinguish one item from another since they all appear as mundane objects. It's best to use the chest for overflow items during your adventures, ensuring you're not constantly overburdened and sorting through your possessions when it's more convenient.
