Diablo 4 Malignant Hearts Unlock: How to Get Hearts in Season 1

Diablo 4 Malignant Hearts will drop in multiple ways in Season 1. In fact, there are three specific ways to get Malignant Hearts, which you can then insert into special malignant sockets in jewelry. These sockets will have specific colors that correspond to various types of Malignant Hearts, so you’ll want to compare some of these hearts to each other to see which one will help your seasonal character’s build the most. Here’s how to get and unlock Malignant Hearts through the Diablo 4 Season 1.

How to get Diablo 4 Malignant Hearts

Here are the three ways that you can earn Malignant Hearts throughout the Season of the Malignant:

  • Defeat Corrupted Enemies – The most direct way of getting Malignant Hearts is defeating Partly Corrupted enemies. This will force them to drop a Malignant Heart. But once you try to collect them using a Cage of Binding, the monster will return as a Fully Corrupted enemy that you’ll need to defeat to collect the heart.
  • Find Outgrowths in Malignant Tunnels – There are six new Malignant Tunnel dungeons full of Malignant Monsters. Deep within this tunnel system, you’ll find two Outgrowths. By using Malignant Invokers crafted at Cormond’s Wagon, you can interact with these Outgrowths to spawn Fully Corrupted enemies that drop Malignant Hearts.

It may also be possible to earn Malignant Hearts from Varshan the Consumed, a new boss that is at the root of the malignant plague. If Fully Corrupted monsters drop Malignant Hearts, it stands to reason that the source of all the corruption would also carry hearts upon its defeat.

We’ll update this article if this is true and if there are possibly other ways to fight Malignant Hearts throughout Season 1.
