Threads How to Gain More Followers

How to Get More Followers on Threads

Getting more followers on Threads isn’t too difficult. The new Meta app by Instagram, available on Google Play and the Apple App Store, essentially works like its main competitor Twitter. The mobile-only app went live on Wednesday, June 5, and already has over 30 million sign-ups according to a Thread by Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg. At launch, Threads is fairly bare and doesn’t have all the features that Twitter has, but many of the same techniques in gaining followers there will apply here as well. Here are several ways that you can get more followers on Threads.

Tips to gain more followers on Threads

The following are several steps you can use to get more followers on the platform:

  • Follow users from Instagram – When you sign up for Threads, you can automatically send follower requests to all of your existing Instagram followers. This can give you a boost of followers to start your account off right.
  • Post pics, gifs, and videos – Posting images and short videos is generally better than plain text in gaining likes and follows. Not every Thread needs a picture, but pairing one with a humorous meme or interesting gif has a better shot of gaining traction.
  • Write a Thread several times a day – Especially while Threads is still young, posting frequently during the first month is a good opportunity to gain new followers. In fact, posting at least three times a day, a few hours apart, is recommended.
  • Become Verified on Threads – Similar to Instagram, Threads does not have a timeline that’s sorted by date. Instead, it uses an algorithm that gives more weight to Threads from verified users. If you are verified on Instagram, this will carry over to Threads, so we recommend getting yourself legacy verified. You can also head to this link on mobile to be put on the waitlist for Meta Verified.

Threads doesn’t have a lot of features that Twitter and Instagram have at the moment. But we believe that hashtags and a trending page will eventually be added. Once that happens, using hashtags associated with trending topics is a good strategy in gaining visibility and therefore more followers.
