How to get Smithing Templates in Minecraft
Smithing Templates are found primarily in chests across various structures in Minecraft. Each structure type correlates with a specific Smithing Template.
For example, the Netherite Upgrade & Snout Armor Trim Smithing Templates are found in Bastion Remnant, while the Wild Armor Trim Smithing Template resides in Jungle Temples. An exception to this rule is the Tide Armor Trim Smithing Template, which can only be obtained through battling Elder Guardians in Ocean Monuments and have a 20% drop rate.
How to craft Smithing Template copies
Once you’ve secured a Smithing Template, it can be duplicated using the crafting table. The duplication process involves the following:
- Placing the obtained template in the top middle slot
- A corresponding block in the very middle
- Filling the rest of the slots with seven diamonds
Each Smithing Template requires a distinct block. For instance, the Netherite Upgrade Smithing Template necessitates Netherrack, while the Coast Armor Trim Smithing Template requires Cobblestone. The crafting process results in two Smithing Templates, the original and another newly created copy.
How to apply Smithing Templates to armor
You’ll need a smithing table to customize your armor with Smithing Templates in Minecraft. Place the armor trim template in the first spot and the armor you want to customize in the second slot and choose a color using various materials like Emerald for green, Redstone Dust for red, and Lapis Lazuli for blue. If you apply the same material to the trim as the armor is made of, the border will appear slightly darker, making it stand out.
For the Netherite Upgrade Smithing Template, place the template alongside a netherite ingot and diamond tools or armor in the smithing table. This unique template will upgrade the diamond item to netherite.
