Diablo 4 Switch Release Date

Will Diablo 4 Get a Switch Release Date?

A Diablo 4 Switch release date is actually not as clear as it could be. The game is currently available for more powerful current-gen consoles, including PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. While it could be implied that a Nintendo Switch release is out of the question for Blizzard given the lower specs of the console, Diablo fans will recall that both Diablo 3 and Diablo 2 released on the platform. Here’s what we know so far about Diablo 4 being available on Nintendo Switch.

Is there a Diablo 4 Switch release date?

While Blizzard has not provided any information on a Diablo 4 Switch release date, it’s not beyond the realm of possibility.

Diablo 3 first released on PC in May 2012 and it took Blizzard more than six years to port the game over to Nintendo Switch in November 2018. To stomach this late release a bit more easily, the publisher released Diablo 3: Eternal Collection, which comes with both the Reaper of Souls and Rise of the Necromancer DLCs.

As such, this has established a precedent for a potential Diablo 4 Switch release as well. It may take a long time before the game is made properly for the Switch, but the developer could be working on it as part of its extensive roadmap for additional content. The Switch is capable of playing other popular games that require a constant online connection, like Fortnite, so Diablo 4 being on the Switch shouldn’t be too graphically taxing.

We should also mention that the release of a “Nintendo Switch 2,” whose development is “progressing well” according to a report from Nikkei Asia, would not necessarily mean that a Switch release for the game is off the table either. This is because the Nintendo Switch has a huge install base, at over 125 million units sold as noted by a May 2023 Nintendo financial report. That’s large enough that it would convince Blizzard to make a Diablo 4 Switch port even in light of a more powerful Nintendo console.
