Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom Farosh’s Claw: How to Get Drop From Lightning Dragon

The Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom Farosh’s Claw (or Farosh Claw for short) material is a special item that only drops from the Lightning Dragon itself. While you can use it as a fusion material to add the shock effect to weapons, it’s more importantly a required item to complete the Goddess Statue of Courage side quest. However, claiming the claw is easier said than done, as it is for all dragon parts in TotK. Many times you will get the Farosh’s Scale instead if you aren’t precise with your strikes. Here’s how to obtain the Farosh’s Claw in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom.

How to get Farosh’s Claw in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom

Obtaining Farosh’s Claw in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom requires that you successfully hit the lightning dragon’s feet while it is glowing.

First off, you need to find Farosh, so we suggest heading to the Popla Foothills Skyview Tower and watch for the dragon to spawn as it enters the Hills of Baumer Chasm. You can also use the Gerudo Canyon Skyview Tower instead and watch the dragon emerge from the Gerudo Chasm before flying around between Gerudo Desert and Lake Hylia. There isn’t much of a pattern as to when the Farosh will appear, but it’s typically in the afternoon.

Now, it’s up to you whether you want to try to ride the dragon’s back and attack the dragon’s claw from that position, or if you want to try aiming an arrow at the claw while you’re dropping from paragliding instead. We think it’s easier aiming an arrow while in mid-air. Either way, we suggest going for its back claws, because if you’re targeting its other claws, it’s easy for a shot to go wide and hit the dragon’s body instead. If that happens, this will drop a scale instead and force you to wait about ten minutes before Farosh glows again for another chance at Farosh’s Claws to drop.

You will know if you are successful if you see a sparkle appear from where you strike the dragon’s claw. If you hit the right part, you will watch the item drop down where you can finally retrieve Farosh’s Claw on the ground (hopefully, it won’t land in the gloom or in a chasm).

Delivering this to the complete the Goddess Statue of Courage side quest will earn you a topaz, which you either sell or save for upgrades.
