Overwatch 2 Roadmap 2023: PvE Canceled, Hero Mode and Talent Trees Scrapped

The Overwatch 2 2023 roadmap has been revealed, but despite some new additions, the cancellation of PvE and the scrapping of Hero mode and talent trees is unfortunate news. Here’s what you need to know about the Overwatch 2 roadmap

Why was PvE canceled in Overwatch 2?

Overwatch 2’s plans for a PvE mode were canceled as development costs were too high. In a developer live stream, Blizzard announced that they couldn’t deliver the PvE experience shown in the 2019 trailer.

This means that while there will be PvE game modes in the future, the plans to develop a dedicated hero mode with talent trees have been scrapped. When the first PvE story mission lands in August alongside Season 6, it will not have any form of long-term progression.

However, the Overwatch 2 roadmap isn’t all doom and gloom. New events, story missions, and new heroes are planned over the coming seasons. Season 5 is expected to kick off on June 23. However, this won’t contain new heroes or the PvE modes.

Many Overwatch 2 players are experiencing a bug that causes the game to freeze upon applying updates. If you’re experiencing this error, use our workaround to resolve the issue.
