Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom Caves at the Bottom of the Hill: How to Open Sahasra Slope Skyview Tower

You’ll need to enter a series of caves at the bottom of the hill to open Sahasra Slope Skyview Tower in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. Unfortunately, the tower’s doors have been blocked, and you need to find an alternate way to get in. The tower technician, Billson, gives the clue that there are caves that run below the tower, but the way he phrases it might confuse some players.

Where to go in the caves at the bottom of the hill to open the Sahasra Slope Skyview Tower in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom

When you arrive at Sahasra Slope Skyview Temple in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, you’ll find the door is blocked by something. You’ll find out you must explore some caves at the bottom of the hill to open it. However, the only clue that lets you know what you have to do next is from Billson, a nearby NPC.

He says:

“My apologies. It looks like we have a small problem over here. I heard that the terminal at this Skyview Tower needed repairs, so I came to fix it, But… The door won’t open. I have no clue why. The door isn’t locked, but it won’t budge no matter how hard I push or pull. Ah, of course I know it’s a sliding door. That’s what I meant. Obviously.

sigh I worked up an appetite getting my brain into gear for this. I bet the nearby caves would have some tasty mushrooms. Yep. There are caves at the bottom of the hill. I used to go mushroom hunting in them all the time while we were building the tower.”

There are two cave entrances at the base of the hill the skyview tower sets in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. One is northwest of the tower and one is south-southeast. However, it doesn’t matter which you choose as they both lead to the same cave complex.

Since Billson mentioned mushrooms, you might think you need to gather some of those to find a way into the tower. That’s not the case, though. Your objective is to make it to roughly the halfway point between the two entrances. You’ll need to break a bunch of rock to get here, but you’ll eventually reveal a new room. Inside is a Babbul Frog, and you’ll notice the ceiling looks a bit weird.

To get into the tower, equip Ascend and use it on the smooth, flat rock ceiling. Once you pass through, you’ll find yourself in the tower. Now, just remove the two pieces of wood bracing the doors, and Billson can enter and fix the terminal.

Now, you can shoot yourself into the sky and reveal another part of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom’s map.
