Google Pixel Fold Price: Is it Worth It?

The Google Pixel Fold price of $1,799 is rather expensive for most people, particularly compared to other Android and iOS phones on the market. The new Pixel Fold is priced right around its direct competitor, the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4, which also retails for $1,799. Folding phones are also rather niche, though the Pixel Fold does have an impressive list of features. Looking at its spec sheet, it could be worth the cost. Here’s whether the Pixel Fold is worth buying and pre-ordering right now.

Is the Google Pixel Fold worth buying?

The Google Pixel Fold at its $1,700 price point is not worth buying for most people looking for a phone at the moment. With that kind of money, you could purchase two Pixel 7 Pros right now and most likely buy the upcoming Pixel 8 or Pixel 8 Pro if Google sticks with the $599/$899 pricing model, which it had for the Pixel 6 and Pixel 7 launches.

At the very least, we suggest waiting a few months after the Pixel Fold’s June 27 release date for early tech reviews and user impressions to make sure that this first iteration of the Google folding phone is durable and doesn’t have any severe issues. If there are problems with the phone’s hardware or operating system early on, Google can take the time to update it before you commit close to two thousand dollars on the Pixel Fold.

Even if you are interested in the Pixel Fold and other similar folding phones, you may want to wait until Samsung reveals the Samsung Z Fold 5, which could release later this year. This is based on the fact that the last three Z Fold phones have launched annually in early August. Given that this would be less than two months after the Pixel Fold’s release date, that’s not too long of a wait.

For more guides on phones, here is if the Galaxy Fold 4 is worth buying if you already own a Fold 3, and if it’s better to wait for the iPhone 15 or getting the iPhone 14 now.
