Fortnite is down today, May 2, with a brand new update meaning that a maintenance period is currently taking place in Epic Games’ battle royale shooter. But how long will it be down, and when will its servers be brought back online? Here’s what you need to know.
How long is Fortnite down today and when will it be back online?
Fortnite will be down until 5 a.m. E.T. / 2 a.m. P.T. / 10 a.m. B.S.T. today, May 2. It has been taken offline by Epic Games while it works on its upcoming 24.30 update, which is scheduled to go live once the maintenance period ends.
24.30 will be the third major update for Fortnite Chapter 4 Season 2, and will bring with it the annual Star Wars crossover just in time for the unofficial Star Wars Day, May 4. This event will feature a brand new Anakin Skywalker skin, and will reintroduce the lightsabers and blasters that have become part and parcel of the Fortnite experience.
The maintenance period is utilized by Epic Games to make changes to the game under the hood in preparation for each patch. As such, while it’s expected to be back online soon, don’t be surprised if there isn’t a slight delay while the tweaks are being made.
