In Hell’s Paradise episode 3, after reminiscing about seeing the Iwagakure chief survive several fatal injuries, Gabimaru confirms his belief in Tokijiku no Kagunomi, the immortality elixir. However, he tells Sagiri that the elixir may not come from the strange land they’ve arrived at. Twisted Keiun, a weapons expert and convicted criminal, attacks them while Yamada Asaemon Kisho stands by idly. Gabimaru kills Keiun with his own weapons even after his hands are bound per Sagiri’s orders.
As Kisho returns to the boat with Keiun’s head, he tells Sagiri that the criminals have already started killing each other and that soon, almost all will be eliminated, but the Iwagakure will replace them. Gabimaru attacks Sagiri with a sword to find the elixir after Kisho leaves, but he can’t bring himself to kill her. Finally, they realize that he is not hollow and has emotions because he loves his wife and that accepting his feelings is a strength.
Elsewhere, Tamiya Gantetsusai, a criminal, is stung by a human-faced butterfly. He cuts off his left hand, which withers and blooms, revealing what happened to previous expeditions. The episode concludes with strange creatures emerging throughout the island and confronting the remaining criminals.
