Instagram Reel Max Length: How Long Can IG Reels Be In 2023?

The Instagram Reel max length has been made longer and longer over the years. This can confuse users who are used to the previous Reels length cap. Thankfully, we’ve got the updated maximum length for 2023. Here’s how long IG Reels can be in 2023.

What is the maximum length of an Instagram Reel in 2023?

An Instagram Reel can have a maximum length of 90 seconds.

Instagram extended the length of IG Reels with an update in June 2022. This changed the Reel length cap from 60 seconds to 90 seconds.

With the longer 90-second Reel length, Instagram users can experiment with a longer format. The additional 30 seconds could allow for additional context to a funny story, a longer dance sequence, a reaction to a movie trailer, and many other enhancements.

With Instagram Reels now 90 seconds long, it also means that there are more opportunities for viewers to lose interest and swipe away, so creators looking to maintain watch time and avoid high bounce rates may want to stick to shorter formats where necessary.
