Is Genshin Impact Illegal

Is Genshin Impact Illegal and Getting Banned in the US?

Rumors of Genshin Impact being illegal and getting banned in the US are starting to swirl, largely due to TikTok videos misinforming viewers. While the US has targeted Chinese-owned apps like TikTok with stricter monitoring, including banning the app on government devices, not all apps based out of China are in the line of fire.

Is Genshin Impact illegal and going to be banned in the US?

Genshin Impact is not illegal and isn’t getting banned in the US.

At the time of writing, there are no public plans of the US government targeting Genshin Impact or developer/publisher MiHoYo with bans. For now, the app remains in use and isn’t illegal for people to use.

With all of that said, it’s clear that there is now much more scrutiny on popular apps within the US that are controlled externally. With phones now being a huge part of our lives and normally on our person at all times, recording our location, buying habits, media consumption, and more, it’s understandable why the government might want to protect that.
