Whether Iron Galaxy or Nixxes was behind The Last of Us Part 1 PC port is a valid question after all the crashing and freezing issues with the game. As a result, fans have argued that Iron Galaxy ports just aren’t good as Nixxes’.
Given that Sony owns Nixxes Software, which has done PC ports of Marvel’s Spider-Man and Miles Morales, you might be surprised to find that this PC port for The Last of Us Part 1 was actually done by Iron Galaxy. This is despite the official Steam entry saying that Naughty Dog is the developer without mentioning Iron Galaxy at all. So the claim that Nixxes PC ports are better might seem valid.

Are Iron Galaxy PC ports worse than Nixxes’?
Compared to Nixxes, Iron Galaxy does have a spotty reputation when it comes to PC ports.
Apart from this PC version of The Last of Us Part 1, which currently has a “Mostly Negative” rating on Steam, it is also responsible for the infamous PC version of Arkham Knight in 2015. While the Steam user reviews for the game are fantastic now, back when it released, it received an overwhelming number of negative reviews. Users complained about the low framerate, performance issues, and more.
Nixxes Software, on the other hand, has done a great job developing patches for Horizon Zero Dawn Complete Edition and porting Insomniac’s Marvel Spider-Man games over to PC. Rumor says that the company is working on a port for Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart, which is why it wasn’t able to do The Last of Us Part 1.
That said, Iron Galaxy didn’t do a terrible job porting over the Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves Collection, so players could be remembering the developer’s mishaps as a reason for the poor performance of The Last of Us Part 1. Still, Nixxes hasn’t placed a foot wrong yet, so its reputation is spotless by comparison.
