Resident Evil 4 Remake: Best SMG

The best SMG in Resident Evil 4 remake might seem like a coin toss since there are only two. However, submachine guns can play a key role in providing rapid-fire and versatile combat options. Of course, purchasing one is not required, but their high stagger potential makes them a great partner for someone who prefers to take down enemies with melee.

We only cover the weapons available during a first playthrough of Resident Evil 4 remake here. So, the Chicago Sweeper didn’t qualify to be on the list.

Resident Evil 4 Remake Best SMG: TMP

Resident Evil 4 Remake TMP
  • Power: 1.10 (Max Total: 2.20)
  • Ammo Capacity: 70
  • Reload Speed: 1.40
  • Rate of Fire: 2.50
  • Precision: 2.00 (3.50 with stock)
  • Exclusive Upgrade 1.5x Power
  • Bonus Abilities:
    • Can equip the TMP stock

The TMP with the stock is the best SMG in Resident Evil 4 remake. In its initial form, it’s inaccurate and weak. However, it becomes a viable pistol alternative once fully upgraded and equipped with the stock. It also quickly regains accuracy after moving or shooting, which, paired with its high rate of fire, makes it a good weapon for scoring criticals.

Runner-up: LE 5

Resident Evil 4 remake LE9
  • Power: 1.20
  • Ammo Capacity: 60
  • Reload Speed: 1.05
  • Rate of Fire: 2.50
  • Precision: 4.50
  • Exclusive Upgrade: Penetrate through 5 targets
    • Bonus Abilities:
    • Penetrates enemies
    • Compatible with scopes

The LE 5 looks better on paper than the TMP but has a significant flaw. It takes forever for the crosshairs to converge on this gun. Even the slightest movement will cause the reticle to shoot out to its widest point and degrade your accuracy significantly. Not even the magnums take as long to get a max accuracy shot. It may be bugged because it acts more like a sniper rifle than an SMG.
