Cryoutilities Steam Deck

What is Cryoutilities on Steam Deck? And How to Install

The Steam Deck is now widely available to purchase by all, and with that comes a whole lot of plugins such as the Cryoutilities plugin, with users wondering how to install it. These plugins are designed to increase the efficiency of the Steam Deck, in addition to just making the overall experience better.

What is Cryoutilities on Steam Deck?

Cryoutilities is a plugin for Steam Deck that purports to increase the performance of the Deck itself. It basically alters the ‘swap file’ on Linux, which is a portion of storage that the Steam Deck uses when the RAM is overloaded.

Cryoutilities make that file size smaller and change how much the device relies on it. This results in games running at a more reliable framerate and can fix entire games.

How to install Cryoutilities on Steam Deck

In order to install Cryoutilities on Steam Deck, follow these steps:

  • Download Cryoutilities in desktop mode.
  • Drag Cryoutilites over to the desktop.
  • Double-click and run the new icon.
  • Set the application to the recommended settings.

That’s all you need to do! If it doesn’t take, you can uninstall the application and return your Steam Deck to the default settings. While you’re here, why not download EmuDeck for your Steam Deck too? And if you don’t have a Steam Deck, find out how long they take to deliver.
