Instagram Bots

How to Stop Instagram Bots Following, Messaging, and Liking Stories

Stopping Instagram bots before they clog your account with spam follows, messages, and likes is well worth the effort. This is because having to remove and block every bot comment and message individually, and making sure that the bot isn’t an actual person, can take a lot of time. Unfortunately, if you don’t spend time removing the bots, Instagram might flag your account for using them to boost your profile artificially. So stopping bots from spamming your account in the first place as a preventative measure is important.

How to stop bots on Instagram

Here are some ways to stop bots on Instagram from following you, messaging you, and liking your stories:

  1. Make Instagram account private – This is the easiest solution. By setting your account private, you will be notified when you get spam and you can choose to have the user not follow you then. Spam accounts also can’t like your posts. You can also decide to only receive messages from those you follow by heading to the Privacy settings under the Messages section.
  2. Toggle off Instagram follow suggestions – This won’t completely get rid of bots, but some users want to keep their account public. By turning off Instagram follow suggestions through the app’s settings, this will lower the number of bots that might follow you.
  3. Avoid popular hashtags – Bots tend to track messages that use very popular hashtags and begin spamming anyone who use them. So you can limit your exposure to bots by carefully selecting which tags to use.

Unfortunately, there’s no way to get rid of bots across Instagram completely, especially if you keep your profile public.
