Is Call of Duty 2023 Going To Be a New Black Ops Game?

Call of Duty 2023 is not going to be a new Black Ops game. While Activision has confirmed that 2023 will see “the next full premium release in the blockbuster annual series,” there has been no word on it being a new Black Ops game.

Treyarch is not making Call of Duty 2023.

According to the latest reports, the next Call of Duty game will be made by Sledgehammer Games. However that won’t be the 2023 release, as it will instead be scheduled for 2024.

For 2023, reports suggest that Infinity Ward and Raven Software are producing new “premium” content for the existing Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone 2. Bloomberg’s Jason Schreier explained as much in a Twitter response:

As for what Treyarch Studios is working on, very little is known. Rumors surrounding a new Black Ops games aren’t yet swirling and industry insiders seem focused on MW2 and Warzone 2, in addition to whatever Sledgehammer Games is working on.

Expect to hear more about Call of Duty 2023 as the months go by and the expected winter release date approaches.
