Disney have revealed plans to make Toy Story 5. Speaking in a call to company investors, Disney’s new CEO, Bob Iger confirmed the news. He said that more details would be given soon, but here’s everything we know about the Toy Story 5 release date, cast, and plot so far.
What is the Toy Story 5 release date?
No Toy Story 5 release date has yet been confirmed. Disney has only confirmed their plans to make a fifth movie in the popular film series, so it could be a while before we hear anything concrete about the feature making its way to theaters.
Who is in the Toy Story 5 cast, and will Tim Allen return as Buzz Lightyear?
No official comment has yet been made about the Toy Story 5 cast. Shortly after the announcement, however, Tim Allen seemingly confirmed his return as Buzz Lightyear, taking to Twitter to write: “See ya soon Woody, you are a sad strange little man and you have my pity. And off we go to a number 5! To infinity and beyond!”
This comes just a few weeks after Pamela Anderson accused Allen of flashing her on the Home Improvements set, back in 1991. Allen denied the claims, to which Anderson replied: “He has to deny it because look at the times we’re in. What if he said, ‘Oh yeah, I did that.’”
Tom Hanks is expected to reprise his role as Woody, while other famous members of the Toy Story roster are likely to come back, including Annie Potts as Bo Peep, Joan Cusack as Jessie, Wallace Shawn as Rex, and John Ratzenberger as Hamm.
Toy Story 5 plot
Nothing is known about the plot of Toy Story 5 so far. Toy Story 4 ended with Woody and Bo Peep deciding that they must be apart from one another again, now that their mission was over. Buzz, however, managed to convince Woody that their new child, Bonnie, would be okay without him. Woody gave his sheriff’s badge to Jessie, before becoming a “lost toy” with Bo.
The film will somehow bring the group back together, but why they will need to call on one another for help this time around, remains to be seen. It could also be that this new movie introduces an entirely new protagonist, and Woody’s role is minimal.
