Hogwarts Legacy features multiple choices for its graphics settings, with HFR Performance, Fidelity, Balanced, and Performance modes all being selectable in-game. But which mode should you choose, and what kind of impact does it have on the game’s visuals?
Should I choose Hogwarts Legacy’s Fidelity, Performance, Balanced, or HFR Performance mode?
At the moment, we’d recommend choosing Hogwarts Legacy’s Performance mode, which provides a very consistent framerate. Prior to the day one patch, the game’s Fidelity mode suffers from a low and inconsistent framerate, and while its Balanced mode makes things smoother, Performance provides an optimal experience when you also enable its Depth of Field mode.
The graphic options are as follows:
- Fidelity: A high-fidelity rendering mode favoring resolution and graphical quality
- Performance: A high-framerate mode favoring performance
- Balanced: A rendering mode aiming for a balance between resolution, graphics quality, and performance. Only available on supported output devices.
- HFR Performance: An ultra-high-framerate mode favoring maximum performance. Only available on supported output devices.
Of course, if you’re willing to sacrifice performance for improved visual quality, Balanced mode is definitely an option. However, given the fast nature of Hogwarts Legacy’s parry-heavy combat, it is recommended that you choose the mode that provides the most consistent FPS that doesn’t affect its visuals as much as HFR Performance does.
