How to Do the Hogwarts Legacy New Zealand Trick to Play Early

Hogwarts Legacy Early Access launches February 7th, but the New Zealand trick lets some users play a day early. This trick is available for Xbox users given that the console is not region-locked, with switching regions not officially permitted on PS5 and PC platforms.

When does Hogwarts Legacy release in New Zealand?

Hogwarts Legacy Early Access releases at midnight local time for every region on February 7th. The 00:00 NZDT release time is equivalent to 03:00 PST, 06:00 EDT, and 11:00 GMT on February 6th. Assuming you’ve pre-ordered the game, you can trick your console into thinking you’re in New Zealand, so you don’t have to wait for midnight in your region.

  1. Launch your Xbox and open Settings.
  2. Select System.
  3. Select New Zealand from the Location drop-down menu.
  4. Select English (New Zealand) from the Language Region drop-down menu.
  5. Restart your Xbox.

This trick is only available to users who have pre-ordered the Deluxe and Collector’s editions of Hogwarts Legacy. For those settling for the base game, you’ll have to wait until February 10th. However, Standard Edition owners can use the same trick to play the game on February 9th.

Hogwarts Legacy Deluxe edition retails for £74.99/$79.99 on the Xbox Store, and the Standard edition retails for £64.99/$69.99. But those waiting for its Game Pass release will have to wait for an official announcement.
