The “Eat the Rich” Killer is Rhys Montrose. The author, who has shot to fame thanks to his rags to riches memoir, has been keeping an eye on Joe Goldberg, now going by the name of Professor Jonathan Moore, since he found himself embedded within a new friendship group, made up of spoiled, rich, and entitled youngsters.

Rhys’ reveal as the killer is one that may have not been wholly unexpected, as he more than any other member of this social circle has an axe to grind with those who are born into wealth and power. Despite this, seeing him attack Joe, before chaining him in an abandoned cellar alongside Roald, did deliver some shocks. Rhys asked Joe to kill Roald, so that they can pin the murders on him, and he wouldn’t be able to plead his innocence.

While it looks as though Joe may give in to his murderous urges, he instead tries to escape. When Rhys returns to the cellar and finds that he hasn’t gone through with the task, he sets the place on fire and abandons the two to burn. Fortunately, Kate manages to help them both escape, setting up what appears to be a Joe versus Rhys second part to You Season 4.

“Where do we go from here?” Rhys asked Joe on his anonymous texting app. Watching the news, Joe then looks hopeless as Rhys launches his bid to become the next Mayor of London.
