You’ll have to find 12 Marker Fragments in Dead Space Remake to unlock the alternate ending. These become available in New Game Plus and are scattered throughout the Ishimura. However, if you follow our list of Marker Fragment locations, you won’t have to worry about backtracking to see the game’s secret ending.
Dead Space Remake Marker Fragment Locations List
Here’s our list of every Marker Fragment location in Dead Space Remake:
- Tram Control – Maintenance Bay Office – Chapter 1: There’s a Marker Fragment located on a bookshelf in the Maintenance Bay Office (the same room as the Tram Data Board)
- Medical – Dr. T. Kyne’s Office – Chapter 2: You can move a shelf aside in Dr. Kyne’s office to find another Marker Fragment in a hidden room.
- Engineering – Engine Room – Chapter 3: Look up at the ceiling for a sign that says “Power Sub-Station 03.” Search the corner closest to the sign to find a Marker Fragment by a bench.
- Bridge – Break Room – Chapter 4: This fragment is easy to find. It’s sitting on the floor by a lamp.
- Medical – Dr. C. Mercer’s Office – Chapter 5: After Mercer releases the Hunter, you’ll have to head to his office to override the lockdown. The fragment is on his desk.
- Medical – Cryogenics – Chapter 5: After freezing the Hunter, look on top of the cryo chamber to find this one.
- Hydroponics – East Grow Chamber – Chapter 6: Turn off the gravity to the room and fly up into the room’s northwest corner to find this one. You’ll probably need to grab it with Kinesis.
- Mining – Mineral Samples – Chapter 7: You’ll need to upgrade to Security Clearance Level 3 to unlock the door to Mineral Samples. Once you do, the fragment is sitting out in the open on a shelf.
- Communications Hub – Communications Array – Chapter 8: Go into the center of this room and face the LED panel showing the circuits. Now look to your 9-10 o’clock, and you’ll see a hole filled with Necromorph growths. Inside this hole is another fragment.
- Crew Quarters – Deluxe Quarters – Chapter 10: Once you enable the doors at the circuit breaker, enter the south Deluxe Shift Bunks and grab this fragment off the desk.
- Crew Quarters – Inquiry Desks – Chapter 10: You can find this marker near the desk with a log on it.
- Cargo – Tram Control – Chapter 11: Another fragment is found in Tram Control on a shelf in the room’s southeast corner.
One thing to note is that we’ve listed the chapter where you have the earliest opportunity to obtain each marker fragment. However, if you miss one, you can backtrack and get any of these up to the end of Chapter 11 when Issac leaves the Ishimura. As far as we know, none of these locations becomes inaccessible once you unlock them.
