What is the TikTok Porcelain Challenge?: Is it Real or Fake?

References to a TikTok Porcelain Challenge are making the rounds on the social media platform. However, the lack of explanation seen in many videos is leaving viewers confused about whether the Porcelain Challenge is fake or not. Well, it’s incredibly stupid and, fortunately, very fake.

What is The Porcelain Challenge on Tiktok, and is it Real?

The Porcelain Challenge is alleged to be a trend where Gen Z kids take their parents’ fine china, grind it up, and snort it as some sort of protest. Fortunately, this is a hoax by a user to “freak out the boomers” because “it would be funny.” The user went as far as to make a fake news report in response to a comment on one of their videos that “Fox News would be all over this.”

The user who started the hoax asked their followers to reference it so people would believe it was real. But, of course, this is a classic example of attention-seeking behavior. It’s a blatant attempt to piggyback off fake trends like the Nyquil Chicken challenge, which led to an FDA statement urging people not to bast their meats in sleep-inducing cough syrup (despite there being few to no cases of this actually happening).

However, unlike the concept of Nyquil Chicken, which was original, absurd, and laughable, the Porcelain Challenge is derivative. As always, when you see a post referencing a potentially harmful trend, just report it and keep moving. Validating this sort of thing with any kind of response encourages bad behavior.
