TikTok Clear Mode

TikTok: What Is Clear Mode and Can I Unlock It?

TikTok has been testing Clear Mode for the last few months after announcing it in May. Clear Mode removes a lot of the info on videos in the app, so you can view them without distraction. However, not everyone has access to it, and TikTok hasn’t announced when it’ll do a full rollout.

Can I unlock Clear Mode on TikTok?

While TikTok has been unlocking Clear Mode for testing for some users, there’s no way to sign up for it. Unfortunately, you just have to wait until you’re chosen.

Clear Mode hides the following info on the screen:

  • Captions
  • Comments
  • For You
  • Likes
  • Shares

Moving all these icons out of the way makes for a distraction-free viewing experience. If you have access to the feature, it’s easy to turn on. Just hold down on the screen, and when the dialog box pops up, you can find the toggle for Clear Mode between “Add to Favorites” and “Report.”

Unfortunately, there are some cons to Clear Mode. It has to be turned on per video, which somewhat defeats the purpose. Most users will find turning it on for every single video annoying. Other than this, those who have access to it have reacted positively, and hopefully, TikTok will continue to refine it before it sees general release.
