Call of Duty Modern Warfare II 3rd person camera mode

How Does Modern Warfare 2 3rd Person Camera Mode Work?

Activision revealed a Modern Warfare 2 third-person mode at the Call of Duty Next event. Longtime fans of the series will remember that the original Modern Warfare 2 also contained a mode that allowed players to duke it out from a behind-the-back perspective, and it’s interesting to see that Infinity Ward is returning to MWII’s roots for the new game.

How will the third-person mode work in Modern Warfare 2?

Fortunately, you won’t be able to use a third-person mode throughout the game. Instead, it’ll be a modifier that has to be turned on and will likely be used for certain playlists.

While moving as normal in 3rd person, players will see from a behind-the-back perspective similar to the one seen in PUBG. However, when the aim button is held, you’ll zoom into a first-person perspective to look down your gun’s sights.

Obviously, this isn’t going to be a mode that everyone’s crazy about. The ability to see around corners without peeking breaks immersion for many players and is somewhat antithetical to Call of Duty’s identity. However, it’ll make an interesting alternative and may lead to some unique gameplay opportunities.

You can check out this new camera mode when the game releases on October 28, 2022.
